After living in Adelaide for the past almost 8 years in pursuit of my cycling dream I have decided that I will transfer my Cycling license to South Australia and a The Sturt Holdfast Marion Cycling Club (the club Mark is affiliated with) in Adelaide and the South Australian Institute of Sport.

We are now well into the new season 2010/2011

We are now well into the new season 2010/2011 as we are also well into the Adelaide winter. The sun rises and sets earlier and the clear blue skies have changed to a dull grey producing a constant drizzle of cold rain. Training has kicked off nicely despite the fact that the Adelaide super-drome is more like a fridge than a finely temperate sporting venue. The ground work is being laid at the moment with regular sessions on the track and in the gym.

On to Delhi
I hope that you have enjoyed my updates from the World Titles in Copenhagen. Since the world titles I have had some time off and enjoyed a week at home in Middlemount with my family topped off by a flying visit in Rocky wit my in laws and friends. I had a great time and I am glad I got to spend time at home for it will be something that won't happen much in the coming two years leading into London 2012. Today April 26th I began back full training with the AIS sprint team in Adelaide in the preparation for the Commonwealth Games which is followed by the world cup season and the world titles in Holland in March 2011.

Post Worlds Update Part Four

Post Worlds Update Part Four - Keirin

The final day of competition saw the Keirin in action. In round one I was lucky to have the door open for me in the final bend with about 50m to the finish. I had been passed by Simona Krupecaite as the motor bike pulled off and very cleverly she sat there with enough speed to allow someone to sit on the side of her ultimately boxing me in. I was in trouble. I had no where to move and no way to get out and come around in a round that saw only 2 riders qualify for round two. I sat there patiently hoping someone would threaten Simona forcing her to lift the speed and luckily for me they did. As riders tried to pass on the outside Simona increased the speed to cover herself and in the process opened up some room between me (the rider sitting behind her) and Willy Kanis (The rider sitting beside her) and I nudged my way out to qualify for the semi final. "Phew" was all I could say at the end of that round.

Post Worlds Update Part Three - Sprint

Day three and four of the world titles was reserved for sprinting. Qualification through to Quarters on day three and semi's and final's on day four. Qualification had been something of an issue for me this past season. I was qualifying low in the order and having to deal with hard races all the way through the seeded match ups leaving myself fatigued in the final rounds. It was something we had been working on the improve for this tournament and we did so with flying colours. I rode a new personal best time of 11.030 seconds qualifying myself second fastest and finally up the pointy end of the seeding.

Post Worlds Update Part Two - Team Sprint

Day two of competition saw the Team Sprint in action. Given the performances by teams at this seasons world cup rounds, this was going to be a fast and hotly contested event. Becoming an Olympic Event for the London Olympics, the emphasis and focus on it from many countries around the world has seen this event become increasingly difficult to win and will continue to do so in the next few years.
